Pugs N Pals - Landon and Nacho

Organized by Mindy Ruzumna

Update on Landon 10/25
Got this from Tina today.

Hi guys!

Sorry there have been no updates, got all of your e-mails asking about this little guy, thank you!

He is doing well, he finally pooped at 2 a.m. on Saturday! YIIPPEEE He has pooped twice now, so that is good, luckily I was there and was able to pick it up before he got it on his cast.

I take him out often and use a towel as a sling around his belly, and he goes pee on his own. I also am trying to get that so called â??goodâ?? leg to start working. It appears he may be paralyzed in the back end. Still awaiting a call back from Dr. Berry to see what we should do and when. But I have noticed some improvement in that leg. I think the walking is making it stronger. Still doesnâ??t hold him up, but I noticed he is trying to move it.

Several times a day I give him a 30 minute massage on his achy body and try to work that good leg back and forth to get it stronger. He doesnâ??t like that leg worked on, but he sure loves the body massage. When I stop, he grabs my hand with his two paws and guide them to his chest. SO CUTE!! He looks at me as if to say â??donâ??t stop Mommy it feels soooooo goodâ?? J

We added some meds for the cough and it is improving, so he is able to get more sleep right now.

So all in all we are going in the right direction, long journey ahead and I pray that all will turn out okay for this baby.

Thanks you all for your prayers, keep them coming!.............../Tina

I would like to add a few things - Elvis Puggy was told he would be paralyzed and he is walking and playing and getting into as much trouble as possible. Elvis has degenerative disk disease. When Elvis first lost the use of his back legs, we purchased a wheelchair from Eddie's Wheels. Elvis no longer uses it and if Landon needs it, I will send it to Tina.

Pugs N Pals needs help NOW - Help Landon and Nacho
We are setting up this Chipin to raise funds for Landon and Nacho. Nacho is a sweet little pug with a large tumor and various other health problems.

Landon was picked up from the shelter by Tina on 10/21.

Here are excerpts from Tina's emails (hope she does not mind)

10/21 -

Iâ??ve working for 3 days trying to help this guy. Finally got some one that got him out of the shelter. She got him last night. We named him Landon. Apparently it is not his leg, but his back, as he is paralyzed in the back end. Appears to be in a lot of pain, that is what the lady said. He is incredibly sweet and has been at the shelter in this pain for 5 days. He is being transported to Dr. Râ??s right now. I am sure I am going to have to rush him to Dr. Berryâ??s and most likely emergency back surgery. ARRGGHHH Thought I was just dealing with a broken leg!!

Later on 10/21 - after emergency surgery:

Just got off the phone with Doc. Landonâ??s surgery took over 2.5 hrs. and it was very problematic. He said that Landon had this for at least two weeks, lots of damage on the muscle and tendons. Blood clots inside and a lot of contusions on his belly. Probably hit by a car. To top it all off he has an upper respiratory infection which made the surgery riskier, as well as very anemic due to blood loss. They couldnâ??t do his palate, so he it will have to be done at a later date.

He couldnâ??t put a plate on him as he was planning as the bone kept disintegrating. It would just fall apart and not hold anything. He ended up cutting muscle and suturing to the bone in the hopes that it will hold it in place until it starts healing. He may need more than one surgery. Poor guy must have gone through hell with this. Even Dr. R said to me what a sweet boy he is and how good he is, he rarely says stuff like that, so Landon must be one special boy. Canâ??t wait to meet him. I will be going over tomorrow to see him and hopefully he will be released.

He has to stay totally confined, not even in a pen, but a crate as he canâ??t have any movement. Carried to go potty and back. So a long journey ahead of him.

Thank you all for your prayers and keep them coming he is not out of the woods yet.

Landon is now resting and recovering from his surgery.
